• Grand Hyatt Taipei 101–great location! Agree about Raohe night market, there’s yummy Michelin rated black pepper pork buns there. Also would recommend the maokong gondola/tea village/temple.

• Beitou is a wonderful half day trip within Taipei. Easily reachable by MRT public transit, the historic hot spring district has spas, lush nature and parks, the beautifully restored Beitou Hot Spring Museum, and a gorgeous public library. I recommend going early to beat the heat and crowds.

My parents enjoyed a tour with Korea Travel Mate. This is more for the adventurous traveler (especially young adults), as the tours go to rural areas of Korea and involve simple shared accommodations. Most tours are low priced due to being subsidized by local Korean governments and only for foreigners. Long bus rides and a busy itinerary, but the tour guides spoke fluent English and they had a Kakao group for participants so I didn't worry about my parents getting separated from the group. The drop-off and pick up was in front of iPark mall, so convenient!

When flying international, consider parking on the surface lot (ramp all the way to the left) in the H area so you can go right out after getting bags.

For an easy flight to New Zealand, check out New Zealand Air. They have a 11 hour direct flight to Auckland and if you need a little more room, consider their "Economy Sky Couches." Basically you buy the middle seat for a fraction of the cost; the leg rests are pulled up and a thin mattress is added to make a bed. Perfect for a long haul flight with a child. A little too tight for two adults to lay down though.
